Halfway There

Exciting news! Today I crossed the halfway point for Alignment’s first draft! The manuscript is currently sitting pretty at around 56,000 words, making my total word count goal for Book II an estimated 112,000 words in length. If you’re scratching your head and wondering just how large of a book that is, it’s somewhere in the ballpark of 425-475 pages for a 6 x 9 inch book when all is said and done.

I have recently been writing a lot more each day hoping I’d get to the halfway point while I could because the second half of this month and all of June are both packed with life events. One such event is my son’s high school graduation, of which I am throwing a party of special magnificence. Others include birthdays, a visit from a couple of friends who live overseas and far away, studio recordings, beach trips, archeological digs, bedroom renos, etc. With October 30th being the date I set to finish Alignment’s first draft, I knew I had to get as much writing as I could in before the busy summer season hit. While I may not be able to write as much in the coming weeks, things will kick back into gear come July.

Meanwhile, I’ll also be continuing to tick off the items on Awakening’s publishing to-do list, which is never far from my mind. Speaking of, if you’re curious as to Awakening’s final word count, Book I came in around 110,000, and with the accompanying appendix, the total page count will be about 416 pages for a 6 x 9 inch book.

As always, thanks to every single one of you who continues to follow my progress. Your encouragement means the world to me!
